The Geek Lives!

NEWS FLASH!

Somewhere in NC, a human, known as Sir_Furious, is alive! After an astonishingly long time of not posting to his blogs, he returns...

Ooka, enough of that. Time to update y'all with my most recent Geek Project:

BOOTING OFF A 1GB JUMP DRIVE TO PLAY SUPER METROID FOR THE SNES!!!

With new technology, the power to start your computer off a USB drive is easy. Just configure your BIOS, and Bingo! You got it. But, what do you do next? Check out Puppy Linux, a distro of linux made to be used as a live CD, running only off the RAM without re-writing your os. THEN check out Puppy Arcade, the version that is around 200 MB, and has the primary function of running emulators for such famous consoles as the NES, GBA, Sega GENISIS, NeoGeoCD, Commodore 64, SNES, Amiga, Atari, EtC... Get the ROMs, and you'll be in business! Bored to death, with a computer near that you don't know the password to? NO PROBLEM! Insert USB drive into USB port, and restart. Check the Bios to make sure that the "USB Storage Drive" boot option is above/higher priority than the hard drive, and it should work right, considering you configured the Jump drive right. Links below!

Puppy Arcade V6: HERE!
Technical review on it: HERE!
How to put on USB Drive: HERE!
Great site to get ROMs: Here! Note: Also has Emulators for Windos and Mac. Beware when searching for ROM's, as they can be prone to virus/spyware/malware, and gaming sites can be intensive on ads. Bad ads sometimes....

Enjoy the Retro/Old-school Gaming!
